How is Tikona 4G Broadband Different from Usual Broadband Services ?

By February 14th, 2017 AT 7:19 AM

Tikona Digital Networks, as most of you may already know, is a Mumbai-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) which offers wireless broadband services to home and enterprise customers. It is funded by multiple global investors inducing Goldman Sachs, Oak Investment, IFC, and Everstone Capital.

Like any other broadband service, Tikona 4G Home Broadband is a wireless, always-on internet connection that allows you to upload, download, stream content or web pages at high data speeds at any given point of time.

That said, Tikona’s 4G broadband, unlike other services is based on the 2300 Mhz spectrum in its 5 circles (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, UP East and Up West). It utilizes 4th Generation OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) & MIMO (Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output) technologies to provide broadband connectivity.

Currently, among all its circles, the Tikona 4G Home Broadband service is available only in Varanasi but the company plans to roll out its service across Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP East, UP West and Himachal Pradesh very soon.

As far as the Tikona’s 4G broadband plans are concerned, the cheapest plan starts at Rs. 400 (under Smart 4Mbps plans) which offers download speeds of 4Mbps with a FUP limit of 4GB. Once you reach the FUP (i.e., 4GB), the download speed will be slashed to 512Kbps. Customers can also select different plans which offer more FUP limit. Of course, you’ll have to spend more.

Tikona has recently raised Rs. 1,150 crore funding from Overseas Private Investment Corporation and is believed to extend its 4G Home Broadband services to 60 cities in the next 18 months.

Have you used the Tikona’s broadband services before? Did you like it? Would you choose Tikona’s broadband service or wait for Jio to launch its broadband services? Drop your thoughts in the comments section below.

Beware of tikona! I have used tikona for 2 years. Even MTNL’ service was way better.tikona suffers from poor connectivity and customer support. There are frequent technical issues in their 4g towers during which the service stops completely for a day or so(happens once or twice every month). In february this year, it was so much worse that that the internet stopped working for 5 consecutive days. And the worst thing is that they harass you when you call for disconnection. They beg for one more chance no matter how much you insist. They put you on their ‘secondary policy’… Read more »

Opted twice disconnected twice. Just check their forum for true feedbacks. Poor infra, overloaded connectivity nodes. 1:8 or 1:20 pre fup contention ratio which increases post fup to 1:50. Disconnection is frequent as it only suppprt 2 device login(earlier) now 8 devices(now). It means if you connect one own(not company provided) wifi router it would be considered as one device and if you connect your laptop to the router tat would be considered as secondary device. No room for mobile or any other wifi enabled device (s) otherwise it will disconnect and redirect you to the weblogin page. Call customer… Read more »
