Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), the popular channel broadcaster has made a thorough revision of its channels’ MRP (Maximum retail price) after the Trai mandate for DTH providers and channel pricing. The broadcaster has issued new prices for 29 of its channels and has also rolled out 27 new Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) bouquets. It is worth noting that out of the 29 total channels operated by SPNI, 18 are Standard definition (SD) and rest 11 are High Definition (HD) channels.

SD Channels by SPNI Starting at Re 1
First talking about the SD channels by SPNI, the broadcaster has noted that it channels including Sony Entertainment Television (SET), Sony Sab, and Sony Ten 1 will be priced at Rs 19 each while other channels like Sony Ten 2 will now have an MRP of Rs 17. Further, Sony Max, Sony Six, and Sony Ten 2 will each be priced at Rs 15 each. More channels like AXN and Sony ESPN will be priced at Rs 5 each while Sony Aath, Sony Marathi, and Sony BBC Earth will be available with an MRP of Rs 4 each. Sony Yay! Will now have an MRP of Rs 2 while the rest four SD channels, Sony Max 2, Sony Mix, Sony Pal, and Sony Wah will be priced at Rs 1 each. To recall, Sony Wah was a free-to-air (FTA) channel during the previous pricing regime.
Talking about the HD channels, four of all the HD channels by SPNI will be priced at Rs 19. These channels will include SET HD, SAB HD, Sony Ten 1 HD, and Sony Six HD. Out of its entire portfolio, three HD channels will be priced at Rs 17 which will include the likes of Sony Max HD, Sony Ten 3 HD and Sony Ten 2 HD. Sony BBC Earth HD will be the channel which will bear a price tag of Rs 10 while the rest of the channels like Sony ESPN HD and AXN HD will have an MRP of Rs 7 each.
