Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched the 'BSNL Live TV' application for TVs. This is currently available for Android TVs only. So users can now go ahead and download this application from the Google Play Store for their Android TVs. The app has been published by WeConnect. The app only has 10 downloads on the Google Play Store so far. It is unclear what are the functionalities and features of the BSNL Live TV app.

In the 'About This App section', this is mentioned - "Our service offers a unified 4K HEVC network in India, providing Cable TV, Internet, and Landline Telephone services through a single CPE. This device features a 4K video interface, built-in Wi-Fi router, access to major OTT apps, and integrated CCTV capabilities, all operated via an Android-based system."
It will be interesting to see how the response will be to this app. As of now, BSNL is already offering IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) services through fiber at super low rates. This will be a competition to similar services from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

On February 2, 2024, a release from BSNL said, "BSNL is providing lnternet Protocol television (IPTV) services via fibre at the rate of Rs 130/- per month. HD Packs are available under two plans, HD starter at Rs 270 with 211 TV channels and HD Bonanza at Rs 400 with 223 TV channels. BSNL IPTV service can work without a set-top box in Android TV sets."
BSNL's Live TV app announcement was shared by AIGETOA, a recognised association of BSNL. The state-run telecom company is also in the process of launching 4G. So far, 25000 sites have been covered by BSNL and in the coming months, the company plans to reach 75000 sites.
