Chinese smartphone brand, Oppo Electronics, as promised has announced the Oppo F5 Youth Edition in India today. Back at the Oppo F5 launch event on November 2, Oppo said that it would be launching Oppo F5 6GB and Oppo F5 Youth editions in December. The Oppo F5 6GB is already available for purchase in the country, and now, the brand announced F5 Youth edition aimed at youth in the country.

Oppo F5 Youth Edition Specifications

As I stated in the headline, the F5 Youth is a stripped down version of the original F5. Although most of the specifications remain the same, there are some noticeable changes in the F5 Youth. It sports the same 6-inch Full HD+ display on the front with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is one of the highlights of the F5 Youth and the entire Oppo F5 lineup.

At the heart of the Oppo F5 Youth, there's a MediaTek MT6763T SoC, which is also known as MediaTek Helio P23 chipset. The chipset is accompanied by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB with a microSD card. In contrast, the standard Oppo F5 arrived with 4GB of RAM, while the Oppo F5 6GB has 6GB of RAM inside.

Another change in the Oppo F5 Youth, when compared to its siblings, is the rear camera setup. Both the Oppo F5 and F5 6GB featured a 16MP rear camera, but the F5 Youth comes with a 13MP rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The major change is the 16MP selfie camera on the Oppo F5 Youth, which is a downgrade from the 20MP unit seen on the F5 and F5 6GB. Nevertheless, the F5 Youth has the same AI-backed beautification technology, which is a good thing. And yes, it comes with the same Face Unlock feature as its siblings.

The fingerprint sensor is still present at the back of the phone, thanks to the 18:9 display on the front. The device boots Android 7.1 Nougat based ColorOS out of the box, and it's backed by a 3200mAh battery.

Other features such as the 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a micro USB port is present at the bottom for charging and data transfer.
