Right now, MTNL is offering combo prepaid plans starting at Rs 171 and going all the up to Rs 421. MTNL is offering a total of five prepaid plans under Rs 500- Rs 171, Rs 197, Rs 231, Rs 365 and Rs 421. Under these plans, MTNL is providing up to 3GB data per day along with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. On the other hand, Reliance Jio also has combo prepaid tariff plans starting at Rs 149. How does MTNL's offering fare when compared to Jio's prepaid plans? Let's find out.

MTNL STV 171 vs Jio Rs 149

This the entry-level combo prepaid plan offered by MTNL at the moment. After the latest revision on August 19, the STV 171 offers 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day. These benefits are valid for 28 days.

The MTNL STV 171 goes against Jio's Rs 149 prepaid plan which also offers 1.5GB daily data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for the same 28 days. MTNL's plan is slightly priced above Jio's prepaid plan.

MTNL STV 197 vs Jio Rs 198

Next on the list, MTNL is offering STV 197 which goes against Jio's Rs 198 plan. Both the operators are offering 2GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. While Jio's tariff plan is valid for 28 days, MTNL's plan offers benefits for 35 days, so it gains the upper hand with the validity

MTNL STV 231 Plan Benefits

MTNL has an STV 231 which doesn't compete with any Jio's prepaid plan. MTNL is offering 2.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for a period of 42 days.

MTNL STV 365 vs Jio Rs 299 Plan

So MTNL has a prepaid STV of Rs 365 which competes with Jio's Rs 299 prepaid plan as it offers 3GB daily data benefit. Both the operators are providing 3GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day with these plans. The Rs 365 plan from MTNL offers these benefits for 70 days, whereas Jio's plan is valid for just 28 days.

On the flip side, Reliance Jio has a Rs 349 prepaid plan which gives 1.5GB data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit for 70 days.

MTNL STV 421 vs Jio Rs 399 Plan

Coming to last plan in MTNL's prepaid combo portfolio, the STV 421 gives the same 3GB data per day, unlimited voice calling along with 100 SMS per day for 84 days. Jio, on the other hand, has a Rs 399 plan giving benefits of 1.5GB data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calls for 84 days.

Reliance Jio also has a Rs 448 prepaid plan with benefits of 2GB data per day, 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calls for 84 days.

Things to Note on MTNL Network

MTNL's prepaid combo plan have an upper hand when compared to those of Jio's as they offer better benefits and longer validity. However, there is something to note about MTNL plans. Firstly, MTNL is offering unlimited local and STD calls from home and MTNL Delhi network only. If you make a voice call to any other number in other 20 telecom circles, then the calls will be charged at standard rates. The same applies to SMS benefit as well. Jio is offering unlimited voice calls to any network within India.

MTNL still doesn't have 4G services, so users have to settle down with 2G/3G data. Jio is a pan-India 4G operator which again has the upper hand.
