Earlier this year, Gionee unveiled its new A series of smartphones. Firstly, the brand launched the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus devices at the MWC 2017, and later on, the company launched the A1 Lite smartphone in its homeland China. Recently, Gionee launched the A1 Plus (Review) smartphone in India at Rs. 26,999, and now, the Chinese company is looking to launch the device smaller A1 Lite in India. The official launch date of the phone is set for August 10.
Gionee recently launched the A1 Lite smartphone in Nepal for NPR 26,999 (approx. Rs. 17,000). The smartphone comes with mid-range specifications. The A1 Lite has a 5.3-inch HD IPS display, carrying a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels.
Under the hood, the A1 Lite has a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset, clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 32GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The A1 Lite comes laden with Amigo UI 4.0 built on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.
The A1 Lite is a dual-SIM smartphone and has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB port. Unlike the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus, Gionee has placed the fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone, within reach of the index finger.
Optics wise, the A1 Lite has a 13MP rear camera, supported with an LED flash and PDAF. Up front, there's a powerful 20MP selfie camera, which is probably the USP of the smartphone.
The entire package is backed by a 4000mAh battery, which is another USP for the device. The A1 Plus also has a 4550mAh battery, which will last for two days on a single charge.
However, the company did not reveal the price of the smartphone. We're expected the smartphone to be priced on the steeper side, maybe close to Rs. 13,999 or even a higher one is possible as well. The smartphone would be available in the offline market as well.
