World's 7th largest Telecommunications Company and India’s National Telecom Backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced the launch of ‘Learn English’ a groundbreaking Value Added Service for its GSM mobile subscribers which will offer an opportunity to learn the language as per the user’s convenience.
To provide the service BSNL partnered with leading VAS content provider OnMobile and EnableM Technologies. It has designed a new mobile learning (m-learning) based ‘Learn English’ program with an aim to provide the user an opportunity to learn the English.
The BSNL-OnMobile tie-up claims that a recent study carried out by them revealed that 74% of the users of the service stated that the topics taught were relevant to their day to day life. 80% of the users said that they now use the words and phrases taught in the program
The “Learn English” VAS has been categorized into two levels, Basic and Advanced. It will also offer English lessons for various Professions, daily life situations and making conversations. The user has 9 languages to choose from as the language of instruction namely Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Telugu and Malayalam.
The ‘Learn English’ service will be available at a monthly subscription of Rs.20 and Voice Call Portal Browsing charge of 30 paisa per minute. To subscribe to the service BSNL users need to dial 1255537 from their mobile phone.
