India’s 2nd largest GSM mobile service provider Vodafone Essar today announced that it has been awarded for "Excellence in Information and Data Security" in an intensive independent audit of Vodafone Essar's Mumbai Circles operations and processes conducted by a Global Information Security Specialist firm.

With this, Vodafone Essar has become the 1st telecom services operator in India to receive this certification.

The company announced PCI-DSS certification that signifies it offers the highest levels of security for credit card transactions on its portal, self-service kiosks, IVR & stores. Vodafone Essar will now commence the audit and certification process for its other circles in India.

The PCI-DSS certification followed an intensive independent audit of Vodafone Essar’s Mumbai circle operations and processes conducted by Global Information Security Specialist firm SISA Information Security, a qualified security assessor for VISA and MasterCard.

Naveen Chopra, CEO Mumbai Circle Vodafone Essar, quoted "Customer data security is one of our highest priorities. With PCI-DSS certification, all credit card related operations in Mumbai circle now comply with the world’s most stringent security practices, which considerably enhance the security of our customers’ data. Our teams are determined to achieve the certification for all our circles in the near future, in line with our commitment to customer care and utmost customer data security."
