Valoo Expands in Finnish Fiber Market With Iisiverkko Network Acquisition
Finnish fiber operator Valoo (Adola) has expanded its fiber optic market through the acquisition of the Iisiverkko business from the electricity distributor Iin Energia. According to Valoo, the transaction, completed on August 15, 2023, marked the transfer of all Iisiverkko customer agreements to Valoo’s ownership on August 16, 2023. The Iisiverkko fiber optic network serves the regions of Ii and Kuivaniemi, connecting approximately 2,000 households.

Expanding Fibre Network Footprint

According to the statement, Iisiverkko network’s coverage extends to over 5,000 households within its service area, and new customers will have access to its offerings through Valoo’s customer service. Valoo said the installation of fiber optic connections will commence promptly with new orders.

“We are engaged in large-scale construction projects across various regions of Finland, and the Iisiverkko network with its customers seamlessly complements the networks we are building in Northern Ostrobothnia and the Maritime Lapland region,” stated Valoo. “Iisiverkko is a well-built and maintained fibre optic network, for which many thanks to the developers of Iisiverkko. It easily integrates into Valoo’s nationwide trunk network.”

Seamless Customer Transition

“We have purposefully developed our fiber optic network to ensure superior telecommunication services for our local customers. Iisiverkko has played a significant role in the economic development of the entire Ii area, and the importance of high-speed connections will only become more pronounced in the future. Now is the right time to transfer Iisiverkko to Valoo, which can take comprehensive responsibility for the network’s growth and maintenance,” explained Iin Energia.
