Netherlands telecommunications provider KPN has significantly improved its mobile coverage network with the installation of over 100 new sites in various locations across the nation. These new sites have led to a substantial increase in network capacity and coverage, solidifying KPN’s position as the best mobile network operator in the region, according to the company’s statement last week.

Mobile Coverage Enhancement
KPN stated that over the past 2.5 years, it has successfully deployed 105 new antenna sites strategically placed in both urban centres and rural areas. In urban regions like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, and Eindhoven, the primary focus has been on enhancing network capacity in high-traffic locations.
Rural and Urban Expansion
Simultaneously, KPN said it has enhanced mobile coverage in more remote areas, including Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Limburg, Noord-Brabant, and Zeeland. Mobile connectivity has significantly improved by installing 50 new transmission towers in these regions, particularly indoors.
The comprehensive indoor coverage now spans 366 square kilometres, equivalent to 56,262 football fields. KPN stated that it aims to continue its network expansion plans, with several more sites scheduled for development in the coming years to improve coverage and capacity further.
