In a move to expand 3G presence in Odisha, country's second largest operator, Vodafone has announced its network expansion in additional 20 cities in that region, making their 3G presence in total 33 cities.
Odisha, as compared with other circles, has lesser 3G presence. Also, Reliance and Aircel's (the key players having 3G spectrum except BSNL) 3G network wasn't wider and lack of 3G spectrum was a hindrance for offering high speed data services to operators like Airtel/Vodafone. However, Airtel won the right to use 3G spectrum in the last concluded auction and Vodafone offering their services by ICRA (Intra Circle Roaming Agreement) with Aircel.
Vodafone customers in the region can now access at higher speed and browse faster in cities like Khurda, Jatni, Puri, Baripada, Jharsuguda, Angul, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Bhawanipatna, Talcher, Bolangir, Badbil, Remuna, Gopalpur, Rairangpur, Titlagarh, Nayagarh, Nilgiri, Basudevpur, Pipli, Bhuban, and Chatia where they already have their 3G presence. This would enable approximately 18 lakh residents across these towns to experience high speed 3G services with uninterrupted connectivity.
Vodafone has its 3G roaming services in these 11 towns: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Paradeep, Jajpur Road, Jajpur Town, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
The company is also offering special data to potential users in these regions. Lucky Vodafone customers are getting 2GB of 3G data at Rs 196/-. On the other hand, Vodafone also offers special and cheaper packs like Vodafone Rs 85 special recharge where one gets Rs 50 talktime and 300 MB 3G data.

In a move to expand further, Vodafone is also offering cheaper data rates which brings value for money. This kind of offering has helped the operator earlier by bagging 80,742 new users in the month of January, which is the highest after market leader Airtel's net addition in the same month.
As a part of its strategy to democratize data, Vodafone India has also been focusing on closer engagements with customers to use mobile Internet, and educating current and potential users about how Internet can add significant value to them.
