NUMBER OF NEW TELECOM SUBSCRIBERS DIPS IN MAY

The Indian telecom industry saw a marginal dip in the number of new subscribers in the month of  April the same has happened in May with no sign of growth in Subscriber base; India has added 8.3 million mobile subscribers in May taking the total subscriber base to 306.4 million in its GSM telecom networks.

Top telecom operator Bharti Airtel still leads the chart with addition of 2.8 million subscribers in May; Vodafone on the other hand, added 2.7 million users to take its base to 74 million users.




BSNL, which is gearing up for its internal renovation work has managed to add 4.5 lakh new users to have a base of 48.1 million users. Idea Cellular with 14.84 per cent market share has added 1.3 million subscribers taking its subscriber base to 45.4 million MTNL which has also managed to add 38,036 users taking its subscriber base to 4.2 million.
