Samsung Launches TVKey Cloud Technology in India for Live TV Without a Set-Top Box
Consumer electronics brand Samsung has unveiled TVKey Cloud Technology, which allows you watch live television without the need for a set-top box. Co-developed with Nagravision, this technology offers consumers a seamless and clutter less entertainment experience, eliminating the need for traditional set-top boxes, Samsung India said in a statement.

Samsung TVKey Cloud Technology

Samsung says that with TVKey Cloud, users can now access all their favourite live and on-demand content using a single Samsung Smart TV remote, reducing additional cables and hardware, and delivering a clean, modern, and highly intuitive viewing experience.

According to Samsung, this industry-first solution integrates live TV and on-demand streaming directly into Samsung Smart TVs, delivering a seamless and cable-free entertainment experience.

Available on Samsung’s 2023 and 2024 TV models, including Ultra HD, OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED, the technology simplifies content access using a single remote. Samsung states that this technology allows service provider subscribers to access premium content using TVKey's on-chip security, ensuring a high level of content protection.

"TVKey Cloud technology is Samsung's latest in a series of innovations towards powering Digital India. It helps cable and satellite television providers deliver secure and high-quality content so that consumers can enjoy their favourite content on Samsung TVs seamlessly. The innovative technology will set a new standard in India's television industry," said Dipesh Shah, Managing Director of SRI-Bangalore.

"Whether it's pure broadcast, hybrid broadcast-OTT, or OTT-only services, TVKey Cloud allows service providers to deliver high-quality content directly to the TV with its built-in set-top box functionality," the official release said.

Available with GTPL and Dish TV

Samsung TVKey Cloud is currently available with cable and satellite television providers in India - GTPL and Dish TV - enabling service providers to deliver a variety of services, from live broadcasts to on-demand content, with minimal hardware. "All that's required is an internet connection (Broadband, 4G, or 5G) to authenticate the live TV signals fetched via Cable or DTH Antenna," Samsung India said.

Consumer Offers

GTPL customers can enjoy a 1+1-month free subscription, resulting in savings of Rs 2,750, including savings on set-top box costs. Customers also receive a complimentary 15-day BlackNut cloud gaming subscription, free access to GTPL Buzz (Live TV App) during the subscription period, and a free router with broadband installation. Additionally, consumers can avail bonus months on prepaid broadband plans, with one free month on 6-month subscriptions and two free months on 12-month plans.

Dish TV customers will get one month of DTH subscription and one month of Watcho subscription (16 OTTs) at no extra cost, leading to potential savings of Rs 2,800 (including savings of set-top box), Samsung added.
