Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab Active, which is an exclusive product made for the enterprise market. will be headed to India soon. It was announced at ongoing annual Samsung Forum event in Thailand on Monday. Samsung has revealed a suggested retail price of around Rs. 52,000, without any official confirmation for its authenticity and availability. In the initial phase, the device will be available only through authorized B2B solutions partners. It will be headed to India soon.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a dust and water-resistant tablet with IP67 certification. It comes with an anti-shock covering, which as touted by Samsung, can bear a 1.2 metre drop with its protective cover on.
The device was first announced last year, It runs Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with an 8-inch WXGA TFT LCD display with 1280×800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM.
The Tab Active sports a 3.1-megapixel Autofocus rear camera with LED flash, along with a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Glonass. It measures 126.2×213.1×9.75mm, weighs 393 grams and is backed by a 4,450 mAh replaceable battery.
The Galaxy Tab Active is accompanied by a rugged cover with S-Pen Stylus slot, which is targeted at giving an alternative input method to the users. It will be available in Titanium Green color and in Wi-Fi/LTE variants. Samsung is also offering Knox security feature, with an optional three years extended warranty.
