India is gearing up for the nationwide 4G LTE rollout and smartphone manufacturers are working on it too. Microsoft has just stated that it will launch more 4G-ready smartphones in the country once the 4G infrastructure in the country is completely in place. Currently, the only 4G enabled smartphone it has in its lineup is the Lumia 638 which is retailing for  Rs 6,799 these days and also happens to be the cheapest 4G device in the country.

“There are a number of 4G-compatible devices in our portfolio, we are ready with the handsets. Once infrastructure is ready (in India), we will bring more 4G devices in,” Microsoft Mobile Devices Director Marketing Raghuvesh Sarup told PTI. It was only yesterday that Microsoft launched the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL in the country but only their 3G variants were launched. The 4G variants can be expected to launch in near future in the country.

The likes of YUREKA, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000 and Lenovo A7000 have already brought 4G connectivity to the sub Rs 10,000 segment. Currently, Airtel and Aircel are the only operators who have a 4G network in place. Currently, every one is awaiting the launch of Reliance Jio's 4G services as they are expected to be on the affordable side of things.

We can expect other OEMs to join the affordable 4G handset bandwagon too once the country gets a rigid 4G infrastructure.
