Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime with MediaTek Helio X10 chipset to be launched in India soon

Looks like Xiaomi is gearing up to bring the Redmi Note 2 Prime smartphone to India soon. A teaser revealed by Amazon India is a clear indication of the nearing launch of the Redmi Note 2 Prime. The teaser reads #PrimeIsComing.
Although Amazon has not disclosed the name of the smartphone, but the image used in the teaser looks a lot like Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime. To remind you, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2 Prime’s launch in India was halted a few months back, due to a lawsuit slammed by Ericsson on the grounds of patent infringement.

The reason behind the lawsuit was that Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2 Prime was integrated with MediaTek’s Helio X10 chipsets. Ericsson accused Xiaomi of not paying any royalty for using its patented wireless technology standards like GSM, Edge and 3G in its device. The case was filed under the section of Free Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) terms. As a result of the lawsuit, Xiaomi was barred from importing or selling any of its device with MediaTek chipset in India. Although, the court had allowed Xiaomi to sell products running on Qualcomm chipsets.

We hope that Xiaomi has found settling grounds with Ericsson or maybe it will launch the device with a different processor altogether. All these details will be unleashed as soon as the device goes official India. Amazon has also hinted that it will be revealing key details about the device every day. There is no information regarding the availability and pricing of the smartphone in India.
