Vodafone Play mobile web version was launched a few days ago for both Android and iOS platforms. Similar to Airtel Xstream platform, Vodafone Play is also an OTT app for Vodafone customers which allows them to watch Video-on-Demand (VoD) and Live TV channels. Vodafone Play's mobile website is now offering more than 50 Live TV channels. Vodafone introduced the mobile version of Vodafone Play to take on Airtel Xstream web, but the UK-based telco made it available only to the mobile phone users. This essentially means that Vodafone users with the Play subscription can watch content on mobile browsers like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and so on. That said, this removes the hassle of downloading the Vodafone Play app and comes in extremely handy for the users with low-end mobile phones.
Vodafone Play Mobile Web Live TV Channel Count Increased
When it comes to providing better services to the customers, Vodafone is trying to compete with Bharti Airtel. As part of the same, the telco has come up with a mobile version of the Vodafone Play website. Vodafone Play mobile web offers the video content in four categories- News, Movies, Original and Live TV. Talking about the Live TV service first, there are more than 50 channels on offer right now, including 9 HD channels.
The HD channels offered on Vodafone Play mobile web are ZEE TV HD, Zee Cinema HD, And TV HD, And Pictures HD, And Prive HD, Animal Planet HD World, Gemini Movies HD, Discovery HD World and Zee Cafe HD. Additionally, Vodafone has categorised the Live TV section as per regional languages. For example, the Live TV channels are categorised as Bengali Entertainment, Tamil Entertainment, Telugu Entertainment, Marathi Entertainment, Kannada Entertainment, Malayalam Entertainment and Regional Entertainment. You can directly head over to your regional language section to watch the Live TV channels.
Vodafone Play Mobile Web Also Offers Video-on-Demand
Besides the Live TV service, Vodafone Play's mobile website also offers other content like Movies and Original shows. Unlike Dish TV's Watcho which produces Original shows, Vodafone Play lists the Originals from OTT services like ZEE5, ALT Balaji and so on. As for Movies, the mobile website gathers content from service providers like SunNXT, ZEE5 and so on.
But compared to Vodafone Play's full-fledged mobile app content, the mobile web version offers limited content for now. This is also the case with Airtel Xstream web version as well. For example, Airtel Xstream's mobile apps for Android and iOS are currently providing more than 350 Live TV channels, but the web version has just over 100 Live TV channels. Even Vodafone Play mobile app has over 300 Live TV channels on offer, but the mobile website has just over 50, including 9HD channels. We're not sure when telcos will provide their entire Live TV channel catalogue on web versions as well.
As for Reliance Jio, it does not have any web version of JioTV right now. For the unaware, JioTV is currently the leading Live TV app for the customers with over 650 channels on offer. JioTV web version was launched last year, but it was quickly taken down due to regulatory issues. We're still not sure on how Airtel and Vodafone managed to launch web versions of their Live TV apps when Reliance Jio couldn't.
