Bharti Airtel has renamed its Airtel TV mobile app as Airtel Xstream, according to the changelog spotted on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The updated version of the content app from Bharti Airtel is already up for download on both Android, iOS platforms. Besides the name change, there are not many changes present inside the app, though. For the unaware, Airtel already has a website which is named as airtelxstream.in and the mobile app has been renamed in-line with the company's website. Airtel Xstream offers both Live TV and content from OTT apps like ALT Balaji, ZEE5, HOOQ and so on. Airtel TV app is the go-to solution for Bharti Airtel customers to watch content on their mobile phone. Although Airtel is trying to provide similar content service to desktop users via its web version of Airtel Xstream, the content offerings from the company are pretty limited for now.

Airtel TV is Now Airtel Xstream, But No Major Features Added

As mentioned above, except for the name change, it's entirely the same mobile application. Airtel Xstream app for Android and iOS provides both Live TV and content from third-party OTT services like HOOQ, ZEE5, HOOQ, SonyLIV and so on. Bharti Airtel says the company is providing more than 10,000 movies, TV Shows, over 350 Live TV channels and more with Airtel Xstream. The Airtel Xstream web version right now is providing very limited Live TV channels of around 100 and the movie catalogue is also limited to HOOQ for now.

In the previous update, Airtel Xstream (Airtel TV) app for Android and iOS received Dark Mode and design overhaul which enhanced the overall user experience. The logo has also been update with the name change.

Unlike Reliance Jio which has separate apps for both Live TV and content from OTT services, Bharti Airtel just has Airtel Xstream which offers both the services to the customers. Reliance JioTV app from the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco provides close to 650 Live TV channels, whereas the JioCinema app offers content from OTT services. Both Airtel and Jio have standalone music apps- Wynk Music and JioSaavn.

Airtel Xstream App Providing 361 Live TV Channels as of Today

The update Airtel Xstream app is now allowing users to watch Live TV from 361 channels. The application also comes with Catch Up TV feature, which allows the subscribers to watch content from the previous seven days. JioTV is also providing the Catch Up TV service to its subscribers. After downloading the Airtel Xstream app for the first time, it will ask the users to choose the languages which they're interested in watching the content, including Telugu, English, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada and more.

The Airtel Xstream app also has a Premium section where users can watch movies, TV shows and web series from the OTT services.

Airtel Xstream App Eligibility Criteria

Airtel Xstream is available for all the Airtel prepaid, postpaid, broadband and DTH customers. Airtel Xstream premium subscription includes access to the entire catalogue of the latest TV shows, movies, videos, Live TV and Catch Up TV. Airtel also states that the titles which have the premium tag can be watched only by premium users. To be a premium user, the eligibility criteria is as follows- Airtel prepaid users who are active on bundled recharges including and above Rs 199, and all Airtel postpaid, broadband and DTH users are eligible for Airtel Xstream Premium service.

For the unaware, Airtel introduced Tier programme a couple of the months, and the content inside Airtel Xstream will differ with every Tier customer.
