The app also shows the map view of the nearby police station and hospitals. Videocon’s entire product portfolio of the smartphone will henceforth feature this panic button feature and SOS-Be Safe app, mentioned a statement released from the company.

Commenting on the initiative, Akshay Dhoot, Head- Technology and Innovation, Videocon said, “With smartphones impacting our lives in many ways, emergency response system or panic button is certainly the need of the hour. We welcome the recent provision by the government for devices with emergency response facilities as it will provide a new direction for the industry to empower smartphone users. We are confident that our latest Cube3 handset featuring ‘SOS-Be Safe’ will assist smartphone users during different kind of emergency situations and enhance the consumer experience.

The Walk With Me feature of the app will allow the user to set a fixed distance of travel and it will alert his/her family or friends if they cross this preset distance. The Reach On Time feature, on the other hand, will allow the user to set a location such as home/office and a normal travel timing to the destination. If they do not reach the selected destination within the time mentioned, an alert will be sent to their immediate contacts.
