Micromax launches Canvas Fire 5 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow at Rs. 6,199

Micromax has come up with yet another affordable smartphone in its Canvas Fire series, dubbed as Canvas Fire 5. The device is targeted at music lovers and features such as front firing speakers and Auro 3D sound. It has been priced at Rs. 6,199 and comes with a 6month free access to premium Gaana+ services offering unlimited song downloads. In terms of availability, the device will be up for sale in Champagne, Grey, and Silver color options through Micromax’s offline channels.

Coming on to the specifications, the Canvas Fire 5 comes with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek chipset paired with 1GB of RAM. It bears 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and sports an 8-megapixel of a rear camera along with a 5-megapixel of front snapper. The connectivity options include dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It would have been better if Micromax the device was equipped with 4G LTE connectivity.

Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax mobiles, said,“In India, with the fast growing internet penetration and access to affordable big screen smartphones, digital music consumption is witnessing a steep rise. About 80% of the consumers watch videos on their mobile devices at least once every 2-3 days, with more than half opting to watch them daily. With youth spending a fifth of their digital media time on audio and video entertainment it is clear that consumers today are seeking sound and music functionality from their smartphones. The new Canvas Fire 5 is specifically designed for such audience to make it easy for them to store, carry and listen to good quality music anytime and anywhere at a wallet-friendly price.”
