To safeguard Indian consumers from such spam or malicious calls, the Indian government has launched the International Incoming Spoofed Calls Prevention System. As the system went live, within 24 hours, about 1.35 crore or 90% of all the incoming international calls with Indian phone numbers were identified as spoofed calls and blocked by the TSPs (telecom service providers) so that the calls couldn't reach the consumers. Bharti Airtel and BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) have also announced anti-spam technologies for their mobile networks and Airtel's network has already started identifying spam calls in real time and alerting customers.
