Ahead of announcing their own 3G network in Kolkata, Idea Cellular has announced new data packs for prepaid users in the region. We had earlier reported, Idea 3G signal is live in Kolkata. However, Idea has restricted users to connect into the network. Now, Idea has come up with cheaper rates for 3G data users while the rates for 2G packs remain unchanged. In a bid to drive data usage, Idea launched offers for both new and existing customers.
The new data pack of Rs 796 would offer 5GB of 3G data at a price of 4GB data. The offer would go live from December 8.

While the popular 3G pack of 123 wouldn't offer more data to new users, but the existing users might get 1GB of data for 28 days. New customers on Idea network who haven't completed 90 days would get 500MB of 3G data free for 12 days.

However, if anybody receives a special offer of 1GB, then he would be eligible to take the benefits post successful recharge; shared an Idea executive.
