Idea has added more data in old existing data packs

Idea Cellular, India’s third largest telecom operator, has made a revision to its data packs. Instead of hiking data prices like they did earlier, they have added more data into existing data packs. As operators are in fear of losing subscriber to bigger rivals and to Reliance JIO, who’s 4G network is almost ready to be launch in the coming months.

As per the latest subscription data, Idea gained 0.67 million subscribers in July, but industry experts believes that after entry of Reliance JIO, incumbents will have to face a hard challenge to keep binding their customers.

Till the past few months, operators hiked data pack prices, but this time it’s a ‘U-Turn’ moment as they have revised data packs with extra data. Yeah! I’m not joking, Idea has added more data in existing packs in the Himachal Pradesh circle. Maybe other operators will do the same in general packs as operators are giving Double Data, but never officially added extra data in old packs in the past few months. So, it will be the start of the scenario when operators add data directly into their general packs.

In the 2G segment, Idea has revised all higher-end packs with extra data after several hikes in the past few months. Data pack of Rs. 175, which was offering 700MB 2G data for 21 days last month, is now revised with 1GB 2G Data for 28 days. You can find details of other 2G packs in the chart below.

Now the rates are starting to return to their reasonable levels. Jio will force them to bring it down to some extent but not to rock bottom level as Jio is 4G operator and many in India still don’t own a smartphone.

Personally, I am proud and excited with Jio. No country in the world has the 4G coverage which Jio has here in India. It is something to be proud of.

Also, airtel’s own 3G network is live in Lucknow but is not selectable yet.

Seems both Airtel and Jio are working hard to expand their coverage asap.

@SS
I think you forgot about China Mobile which has robust 4G network & it has seen huge 4G growth since their launch which has pushed both , their revenue & subscriber base.

Well countries like South Korea and Sweden are the ones to look after in case you want examples of excellent LTE networks. Yes China Mobile is also good but no way near the operators of Korea and Sweden.

These are the old benefits we used to get before the hike one month ago…dnt know what telecos are up to
Increasing prices decreasing prices…feeling heat of rel jio
Data tariffs to fall in coming months as said by one of the friend working with top teleco…
Telecos skimming price to earn revenue before jio launches.
