Idea has added more data in old existing data packs

Idea Cellular, India’s third largest telecom operator, has made a revision to its data packs. Instead of hiking data prices like they did earlier, they have added more data into existing data packs. As operators are in fear of losing subscriber to bigger rivals and to Reliance JIO, who’s 4G network is almost ready to be launch in the coming months.

As per the latest subscription data, Idea gained 0.67 million subscribers in July, but industry experts believes that after entry of Reliance JIO, incumbents will have to face a hard challenge to keep binding their customers.

Till the past few months, operators hiked data pack prices, but this time it’s a ‘U-Turn’ moment as they have revised data packs with extra data. Yeah! I’m not joking, Idea has added more data in existing packs in the Himachal Pradesh circle. Maybe other operators will do the same in general packs as operators are giving Double Data, but never officially added extra data in old packs in the past few months. So, it will be the start of the scenario when operators add data directly into their general packs.

In the 2G segment, Idea has revised all higher-end packs with extra data after several hikes in the past few months. Data pack of Rs. 175, which was offering 700MB 2G data for 21 days last month, is now revised with 1GB 2G Data for 28 days. You can find details of other 2G packs in the chart below.
