Google AI Powers Over 300 Real-World Gen AI Use Cases: December 2024 Edition
Google released its new AI model, Gemini 2.0, this month, marking a significant step into the agentic era. The model features advanced multimodality capabilities, such as native image and audio output, as well as native tool use, enabling the creation of universal AI agents. Gemini 2.0 can process images, audio, video, and text inputs, and generate text, images, and multilingual text-to-speech outputs. It supports advanced multimodal reasoning and long-context understanding. Currently, Gemini 2.0 is available to developers through Google AI Studio and is expected to be integrated into Google products more broadly by early 2025.

Google AI Solutions

According to Google, many customers are already utilising the model. Organisations of all sizes and across various industries are building AI services and agents on the Vertex AI platform.

“What makes AI agents unique is that they can take actions to achieve specific goals, whether that’s guiding a shopper to the perfect pair of shoes, helping an employee looking for the right health benefits, or supporting nursing staff with smoother patient hand-offs during shifts changes,” said Brian Hall, Vice President of Product Marketing at Google Cloud.

AI Agents in Six Key Areas

Google reports that customers are enhancing productivity, automating processes, and modernising the customer experience using AI agents. These agents are being developed in six key areas: customer service, employee empowerment, code creation, data analysis, cybersecurity, and creative ideation and production.

According to Google, hundreds of Google Cloud customers have deployed AI agents and generative AI solutions in production across their businesses, with many reporting a tangible return on investment. With over 300 real-world generative AI use cases, here’s a snapshot of how top companies, governments, researchers, and startups are leveraging AI to enhance their work using Google’s AI solutions.
