Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is the only Indian telecom operator which isn’t offering prepaid plans either bundled with Netflix or Amazon Prime. Both of these platforms are very major entertainment destinations for Indians. Netflix is the most premium OTT (over-the-top) platform in the country as it costs way more than any other platform. Amazon Prime subscription is fairly cheaper compared to Netflix, yet very valuable for customers in India as it brings a suite of benefits/access such as Prime Reading, Prime Shopping, Prime Video, Prime Music, and more.

While Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are offering either Netflix or Prime bundled prepaid plans, BSNL isn’t. However, this may not be the case forever. BSNL is looking to compete with the private telcos in every segment, including entertainment. The state-run telco has confirmed that it is considering the feasibility of offering Netflix/Prime bundled prepaid plans. This is not to say that these plans will surely be on offer sometime soon.

However, it also doesn’t mean that they will never be a reality. The feasibility factor is what BSNL is considering and reviewing right now. Besides that, the telco has other priorities such as rolling out 4G, bringing eSIM services, and expanding its broadband reach in the country. The prepaid plans of BSNL are the cheapest at the moment, and rightly so. There is no PAN-India 4G service, and thus, competing with the private telcos on pricing would not be the right move.
