Cellnex Portugal to Acquire Six Telecom Towers from NOS Technology
Cellnex Portugal, through its wholly-owned subsidiary ON Tower Portugal, has notified the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) of its plans to acquire six macro-sites from Nos Technology. These sites will be used to provide passive infrastructure for mobile telecommunications networks.

Cellnex Portugal and its Parent Company

Cellnex Portugal is, in turn, a Portuguese subsidiary wholly owned by Cellnex Telecom, a company headquartered in Spain that operates passive wireless infrastructure in several European countries.

Sites in Portugal

Through its subsidiary ON Tower Portugal, Cellnex already manages approximately 6,400 sites across the country. Its macro-sites and micro-sites in Portugal are operated by OMTEL and Towerlink Portugal, Unipessoal, Lda, according to the AdC filing.

No financial or other details were disclosed. The transaction is pending approval by the Portuguese Competition Authority.

Details of the 2020 Deal with NOS

The deal expands on Cellnex’s April 2020 agreement with Portuguese mobile operator NOS, which saw Cellnex acquire 100 percent of NOS’s tower portfolio, covering approximately 2,000 sites, and includes an agreement to increase the portfolio by up to 400 new sites over the next six years.
