After lowering data tariffs post Jio's entry in the market with unlimited data offer, market leader Bharti Airtel has already proved that it would follow the same route to protect its user base. The operator is now offering 2GB 3G/4G data at Rs 153 to prepaid customers, which shows they are ready to challenge Jio with dirt cheap data rates. Other operators’ special promotional packs provide 1 GB 3G/4G data at that price.

Though, in the last few weeks operators have started offering 1 GB data for as low as Rs 50-60, but those rates was available only after an upfront payment of Rs 1500. But this time, prepaid customers can get much lower rate for 3G/4G data without any upfront payment as Bharti Airtel has started offering the promotional offer to thousands of the data customers across major circles. The Mittal owned company is also offering similar benefits to postpaid customers where one can get 1.5 GB of 3G/4G data at only Rs 100.

As most of the data user's find 1-2 GB data pack useful for their monthly needs, we can say with this step Bharti Airtel will surely win hearts of those customers who are still paying Rs 250 - 350 for that amount of data. Also, it will put pressure on Jio which is currently trying to boost data usage pattern through offering free data as Welcome Offer. Even, if we compare the offer with Jio's announced data tariff, Airtel's latest offerings are still 50% cheaper. Though, we believe the data centric operator Jio will match these tariffs in January when they would start charging for services.

Dear readers, do you think this tariff voucher from Bharti Airtel is really a game changer in the competitive data market where Jio has emerged as a challenger? Share your views and opinions through your comments.
