Airtel Rs 97 Prepaid Recharge Revised to Offer 500MB Data and Unlimited Calling for 14 Days

Telecom operator, Bharti Airtel, has revised its affordable Rs 97 prepaid plan. To recall, Airtel launched the Rs 97 prepaid plan a few months ago alongside the likes of Rs 129 and Rs 148 plans. However, the new revision is not a positive one as the telco has reduced the data benefit. Jio's Rs 98 prepaid plan offers 2GB data for a period of 28 days, and before the revision, Airtel's plan also offered the same data benefit. But the revised Rs 97 plan from Airtel ships with just 500MB data benefit for a period of 14 days. It's unknown why Airtel made this move, but it seems like the plan got poor reception because of its low validity. Even before the revision, Jio had the upper hand because of the 28 days validity, but now, Jio's lead extended further.

Airtel Rs 97 Plan Revised: What it Offers Now?

With the revised Rs 97 prepaid plan, Bharti Airtel is shipping unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit, 500MB of 4G/3G/2G data and 300 SMSes. All these benefits are valid for 14 days from the date of recharge. Before the revision, the plan offered unlimited voice calling, 2GB of data benefit and 300 SMSes for the same 14 days.

The Rs 97 prepaid plan is aimed at the basic users who want to keep their account active. With the Minimum recharge scheme, prepaid users are forced to make a recharge of Rs 35 or more every month. So this plan will come as a relief for such users because it offers unlimited voice calling for 14 days. That being said, we have the Rs 129 prepaid recharge offering 2GB data benefit, unlimited voice calling and 300 SMSes for 28 days. The Rs 97 prepaid plan is for the heavy voice calling users because no other Airtel plan under Rs 100 has unlimited calling benefit.

Reliance Jio Rs 98 Prepaid Plan Vs Airtel Rs 97 Prepaid Plan

As mentioned above, Reliance Jio has the upper hand even before the new revision of Rs 97 prepaid plan of Airtel. With its Rs 98 recharge, Jio is offering unlimited voice calling, 2GB of 4G data and the same 300 SMSes for 28 days. But Airtel's plan lacks in the validity and data benefit segments, so clearly Jio has the upper hand under Rs 100.

The Rs 97 prepaid plan from Airtel is an open market one and it's valid across all the circles where the company has operations. Users can recharge with this plan by heading over to the company's website or mobile app or via third-party recharge sites.

Airtel Rs 65 Smart Recharge or Rs 97 Prepaid Plan: Which One to Choose?

Last year, Airtel introduced a new set of recharge packs called Smart Recharges which replaced the talk time plans of Rs 50, Rs 100 and so on. Under Rs 100, Airtel has two Smart Recharge plans of Rs 35 an Rs 65. The Rs 65 Smart Recharge comes with Rs 55 talk time benefits, 200MB of data and all the voice calls will be charged at 60 paise per minutes. These benefits of Rs 65 recharge will be valid for 28 days. The Rs 97 recharge offers unlimited calling which sets it apart of the Rs 65 Smart Recharge plan.
