Trane Technologies, a climate technologies company, announced on Wednesday, December 18, that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire BrainBox AI, a Montreal-based company specialising in autonomous HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) controls and generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) building technology. BrainBox AI has developed an enterprise platform for autonomous building management.

BrainBox AI's AI-Driven Solutions
BrainBox AI uses advanced deep learning algorithms to predict building energy needs, automate HVAC systems, reduce energy consumption by up to 25 percent and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 40 percent. Its technology is deployed across more than 14,000 commercial buildings globally, including airports, complexes, office buildings, hotels, commercial retail and more, according to the official release.
The acquisition integrates BrainBox AI's Artificial Intelligence technology with Trane Technologies' building management and digital capabilities to meet the demand for sustainable, autonomous building solutions, Trane said.
Over the past two years, the companies have collaborated by integrating BrainBox AI's platform with Trane's building automation systems to analyse live data from multiple sources; accurately predict zone temperature and energy loads; and perform system improvements 24/7 to optimise energy usage.

BrainBox AI recently launched ARIA platform (Artificial Responsive Intelligent Agent), which the company claims to be the world's first virtual building engineer. The platform provides precise data visualisation, sound reasoning, and informed actions for facility management professionals.

BrainBox AI's HVAC technology leverages autonomous AI to make buildings smarter, greener, and more efficient. The transaction is expected to close in early 2025. Upon closure, all BrainBox AI associates will join Trane Technologies, which will maintain BrainBox AI's operations in Montreal.
