Lumos Announces USD 150 Million Fiber-Optic Expansion in Stark County, Ohio

Lumos Announces USD 150 Million Fiber-Optic Expansion in Stark County, Ohio
Lumos, a fiber-optic internet and home Wi-Fi provider, is expanding into Stark County, Ohio, with a USD 150 million investment. The project will span over 2,000 miles, bringing high-speed internet access to homes and small businesses.

Lumos' Investment in Stark County

Lumos CEO Brian Stading says engineering work is already underway and construction is set to begin in 2025 which will provide homes and small businesses with access fiber internet. "Lumos' goal is to provide a leading fiber optic internet solution for each business and individual," said Stading.

Fiber Optic Internet Availability

This marks Lumos' third major investment in Ohio, contributing nearly half a billion dollars to the Buckeye State economy. Lumos’ Fiber Optic Internet will be available in the following communities: Canal Fulton, Canton, Canton Township, Louisville, Nimishillen Township, Massillon, Perry Township, North Canton, Jackson Township, Plain Township, East Canton, Hartville, Lake Township, Hills and Dales and Meyers Lake.

Additionally, the expansion is expected to create new job opportunities and support workforce development across the region.

Supporting Workforce Development

"We believe this multimillion-dollar investment by Lumos will assist in our workforce development activities and also help close the digital divide in our cities, villages and many of our townships," says Jeff Dafler, President and CEO of Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Lumos provides access to Fiber Optic Internet, Total-Home Wi-Fi, voice and streaming services, to more than 400,000 homes and businesses across Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
