Custom network solutions provider SummitIG has partnered with Neutral Networks to establish a dark fiber infrastructure provider in Mexico. SierraIG, the joint venture, will leverage current fibre assets from Neutral Networks to provide purpose-built dense fiber infrastructure to data centers across Mexico, initially focusing on the Queretaro and Monterrey markets, the companies said in a joint statement earlier this month.

Partnership for Dark Fiber Expansion
SummitIG holds the majority stake in SierraIG, marking its first expansion outside the US. With an initial USD 50 million investment, the company plans to expand its network to 750 km, providing custom dark fiber solutions to hyperscalers, cloud providers, large enterprises, and both national and international carriers.
Building Critical Digital Infrastructure
"SummitIG will provide growth capital and a deep understanding of how to architect and construct critical digital infrastructure assets, while Neutral Networks will contribute local expertise and knowledge in delivering and operating networks in the region," said SummitIG.
"Queretaro has become the Valley of Data Centers, which are facilities that require underground, diverse, and reliable fiber optic networks for their operations. The creation of SierraIG by Neutral Networks and SummitIG addresses the infrastructure and connectivity needs of companies in this sector," said the head of the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) of the State of Queretaro.
