Airbus Extends Partnership With Astrocast to Enhance Satellite IoT Technology

Swiss satellite IoT operator Astrocast has announced extending its partnership with Airbus Defence and Space (Airbus). The collaboration seeks to bolster the capabilities of satellite Internet of Things (SatIoT) technology, allowing Astrocast to further increase its network capacity, according to the official release.




Strengthening SatIoT Capabilities

Astrocast stated that its partnership with Airbus since 2017 has been vital for the progress of Astrocast's communication protocol and modem software stack. The improvements have greatly influenced the development of Astrocast's SatIoT technology, which has been well-received for its reliability and quality following its launch in 2022.

With the partnership extension, Airbus will continue to provide extensive support to Astrocast, focusing on enhancing both Bandwidth and Quality of Service. This collaboration also lays the important foundation for potential convergences with the future 5G NTN IoT communications standards that are currently in discussion for LEO constellations."
