Vodafone is now offering double data benefit for a limited period on select prepaid plans. Ever since its existence, Reliance Jio has made only one negative move in the prepaid segment and it’s the most recent introduction of IUC Top-Up vouchers. This opened gates for both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea to go after Reliance Jio as they’re not charging anything extra from customers for outgoing voice calls to other networks. After trolling Reliance Jio on social media for charging outgoing voice calls, Vodafone has started providing double data benefit with its popular prepaid plans- Rs 199 and Rs 399. Vodafone is also teasing about this offer saying that ‘Unlimited Means Unlimited With Now Double Data,’ again taking shots at Reliance Jio. That said, Idea did not introduce any such offer and Vodafone’s offer is limited to only Rs 199 and Rs 399 prepaid plans, at least according to the info we have right now.

Vodafone Rs 199 Prepaid Plan Now Offers 84GB Data for 28 Days
As part of this Double Data offer from Vodafone, the telecom operator is shipping a whopping 84GB data benefit with its entry-level prepaid plan of Rs 199. Vodafone’s Rs 199 prepaid recharge usually ships with unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit, 100 SMSes per day and 1.5GB data per day. But now, the same plan comes with 3GB daily data for a period of 28 days, totalling the overall data benefit at 84GB.
On the other hand, Vodafone’s Rs 399 prepaid plan which usually ships 1GB data per day for 84 days now offers 2GB data per day for the same period, taking the data benefit to 168GB. The Rs 399 plan also comes with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day benefits. Vodafone prepaid users recharging both the plans will also get free access to Vodafone Play content on both the mobile app and mobile website. The Rs 399 plan offers an additional 84GB of data benefit, valid for 84 days.
Having said that, it’s a limited period from the UK-based telecom operator to grab attention from Reliance Jio prepaid users who’re looking to migrate to other networks post the introduction of IUC Top-Up vouchers. Also, do make a note that it’s a limited period offer from Vodafone and we’re not sure when it ends as well. We can confirm the offer’s availability in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Chennai, Karnataka, Kerala and Mumbai telecom circles. Users will have to enter their Vodafone prepaid mobile number on the Vodafone website or mobile app to get the extra data plan under the ‘Recommended’ plans section.
Vodafone Tackles Reliance Jio With This Double Data Offer
In other news, telecom operators Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel are going after Reliance Jio, for the first time. Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio changed the entire Indian telecom market when it entered back in 2016 and also pushed both the incumbent telcos into losses. With its affordable tariff plans, Jio became a de-facto operator for new customers and even existing users of Airtel and Vodafone Idea joined the new entrant in a large number. Right now, Reliance Jio is in a tough spot; As analysts predicted that Jio would increase tariffs to become profitable, the telco has started charging 6 paise per minute for outgoing calls to other networks. Although, it’s still providing free voice calls within Jio network and to landline phones, Jio is at the receiving end for the first time.
Jio tried its best to defend itself and its new IUC Top-Up vouchers implementation, but incumbents are after the company saying that they provide unlimited voice calls and it’s the right time to choose the correct network. This double data offer from Vodafone will surely attract a lot of users from Reliance Jio network and new users alike. It will be interesting to see where this battle goes.
