Vodafone Idea Announces TurboNet 4G in Select Cities to Offer Enhanced Network Experience

Vodafone Idea Limited today announced the launch of new service called TurboNet 4G in select cities. The TurboNet 4G from Vodafone Idea is now live in select cities- UP West, Rajasthan and Rest of Bengal markets where it has already integrated the networks of Vodafone and Idea. For the unaware, Vodafone Idea has been integrating radio network in various circles and the TurboNet 4G is now live in the cities where the integration is already done. Ever since the completion of merger, the telco has been carrying on radio network integration and the deployment of new age technologies such as Dynamic Spectrum Re-farming (DSR), Spectrum Re-farming, M-MIMO, L900, TDD and Small Cells to further boost network capacity and coverage across large parts of the country.




Vodafone Idea TurboNet 4G: What is It?

Vodafone Idea has been integrating the networks of both the telcos over the last few months. Since the merger, Vodafone Idea’s 4G coverage has increased to cover 830 million population of India. 4G coverage has been expanded to cover 340 million additional population for Brand Vodafone and 230 million for Brand Idea, said Vodafone Idea in a press release.

According to Vishant Vora, Chief Technology Officer, Vodafone Idea Limited., “With the integration of two strong networks in many markets, Vodafone Idea is becoming a higher powered, super charged 4G network on the back of larger number of sites, deployment of future fit technologies and greater spectrum allocation. TurboNet truly defines the reinvented 4G network which promises to deliver wider coverage, increased capacity, turbo speeds and superior customer experience. Our unified network is being presented to customers of both brands under a single brand proposition – TurboNet 4G – in all the integrated markets in India. So whether you are a Vodafone or Idea customer, your network is now bigger, stronger and better.”

Additionally, Vodafone Idea confirmed that TurboNet 4G will be rolled out across the country over the next few months in a phased manner.

Vodafone Idea Network Integration Running at a Rapid Pace

Vodafone Idea’s network integration exercise is continuing at a rapid pace with 72% of districts in India already consolidated. To integrate and optimise the network across all the circles seamlessly, the company has setup war rooms at national and circle levels to monitor and manage the performance on a real time basic 24/7.

In the recent Trai speed test report, the regulator stated that Idea is the fastest 4G upload speed operator, but lost its place to BSNL in the 3G download speed department. Reliance Jio is still the fastest 4G operator in the country.

Furthermore, Vodafone Idea, which is currently the second largest telecom service provider in the country says that the customers can enjoy Live TV shows, latest movies and a variery of original content on Vodafone Play at trubo speeds. It will be interesting to see how this TurboNet 4G technology transforms into real world 4G speeds.
