Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 tipped to feature iris scanner and dual-lens camera

The rumor mills have begun to churn about Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. After the hefty loss the company faced due to the battery issue of Galaxy Note 7 and its subsequent recall, Samsung’s expectations on Galaxy S8 is going to be high and heavy. In a way, the flagship will be the savior of the company’s image as a premium smartphone manufacturer. Hence, Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be packed with luring features for its buyers.

According to Korean Herald, Samsung Galaxy S8 will incorporate the iris scanner and dual-lens camera. “Samsung never uses the same camera for its flagship models, upgrading the camera of its flagship device every year, so there surely will be an improvement (for the S8 camera),” the report quoted an official from one of Samsung’s parts suppliers for the S8.

According to the official, this will increase the revenue of the suppliers and the module makers. Two of the major suppliers of camera modules for Samsung’s S8, and smartphone lens makers include Sekonix and Kolen, lens makers for the iris camera. Few part suppliers of Galaxy Note 7 will remain as the main supplier’s for S8 as well. To say, Partron and MCNEX supplied iris scanner sensors for the Note 7 and will likely remain the suppliers for the S8’s biometric sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is widely anticipated sometimes in February 2017. To recap, the Galaxy S8 will be a successor to Samsung's current flagshio lineup - Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. We can also expect an "edge" variant of the forthcoming Galaxy S8.
