Flipkart to start taking pre-orders for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus from midnight

The e-commerce giant Flipkart will begin to accept the pre-orders for Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, from today. The new iPhones will go on sale in India from October 7. This is the first time that Apple is collaborating with an e-commerce company to sell its iPhone. So far, Infibeam was the authorised online reseller for iPhone.

The price variants of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for India are already released. If to recap, Apple iPhone 7 with 32GB costs Rs. 60,000. The other storage variants of iPhone 7 -- 128GB and 256GB – will be available for Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 80,000 respectively. The price of iPhone 7 Plus starts at Rs. 72,000 for 32GB storage variant. The other variants (128GB and 256GB) cost Rs. 82,000 and Rs. 92,000.

According to reports, Flipkart will charge the full payment for the pre-booking of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and not a token amount. Flipkart sources the new iPhones directly from the company, instead of the partners. Apple bets high on the Indian market. "In the first three-quarters of this fiscal year, our iPhone sales in India were up 51 per cent year-on-year," Apple CEO Tim Cook had said in an interaction earlier.

In terms of specifications, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus feature 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch retina HD display. They are powered by A10 Fusion quad-core chipset clocked at 2.23 GHz. iPhone 7 sports a 12 MP rear camera with an improved f/1.8 aperture and a 7 MP camera on the front. On the other hand, Apple iPhone 7 Plus features dual-rear camera (12+12MP) with a telephoto and wide-angle lens.
