After experiencing slower handset sales even after announcing BB10 and Android powered phones; BlackBerry which ruled premium phones market till last decade has now made available all their BlackBerry premium apps to Android devices running Marshmallow or above.
This move may not benefit its smartphone sales numbers, but it can generate positive revenues from the software services end. Blackberry's premium one stop notification hub called BlackBerry Hub+ which is comprised of the BlackBerry Hub and other apps such as Calendar, Password Keeper, Contacts, Tasks, Device Search, Notes, and Launcher would be available starting today.
So if you are using an Android device which is running on Marshmallow or above, go to the Play Store and download the BlackBerry Hub+ Services app. Then enter that app, tap on Apps by BlackBerry, and install the ones you want to use. However, the rollout is in a phased manner and can take more time to be available for your device/region.
You can use the BlackBerry Hub+ for free for 30 days, after which you have a choice to either not pay anything but see ads, or cough up 99 cents (Rs 70) per month to get the whole suite ad-free. In the future these apps might even show up on iOS platform and devices running older versions of Android.However, those using Android powered BlackBerry Priv, can access the services for free.
