Looks like manufacturers are finally gearing up to make Android 6.0 Marshmallow available on their devices. Lenovo is definitely trying to increase its update rollout pace. The latest Lenovo smartphone to get the taste of Marshmallow is the Vibe P1. The device was launched in October, last year.
The Android 6.0 over-the-air (OTA) update for the Vibe P1 is 1.67GB in size. After the update, users would be required to set up fingerprint lock again. To recap, Lenovo K3 Note and A7000 smartphones received the Marshmallow update a few weeks ago in India. In accordance to Lenovo’s official Android Upgrade Matrix, the Vibe S1 will also receive the update soon.
Android 6.0 brings a variety of features onboard such as Power and Charging, App Permissions, Web Experience, App Links, and much more. The update also adds up the Doze battery saving feature, which utilises motion detection to close background activity whenever the smartphone is in standby mode, however, it will still run important background features such as alarms.
It’s always a delight to see devices receiving the Marshmallow update, especially the mid-rangers. Given the fact that Android 6.0’s rollout has been pretty slow and a major chunk of Android users are still stuck on KitKat, Jelly Bean, and Lollipop versions.
With Android N under its development phase, we expect manufacturers to start rolling out Marshmallow update sooner.
