Do you remember those clamshell phones? Well, Gionee is bringing back the design with its upcoming smartphone, the Gionee W909. The company has started rolling out invites for the launch event on March 29, in China. Gionee has not yet revealed whether it will launch the device for other regions as well.
The leaked specifications of the device hint that it will come powered by MediaTek's 64-bit 2 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 Helio P10 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. As a bonus, the device will also feature a fingerprint sensor. The Gionee W909 will sport dual HD displays and 32GB of expandable internal storage.
In the imaging department, the clamshell smartphone will be equipped with a 16-megapixel primary camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It will measure 124.6 x 62.5 x 16.4 mm and weigh 210 grams. As per the reports, the Gionee W909 is expected to be priced around CNY 3,599 (approx. Rs. 37,000).
The Gionee W909 reminds us of Samsung's clamshell phone, the W2016. Similar to the Samsung W2016, the Gionee W909 also packs two touchscreens, on the inside and the outside of the upper half of the device. Moreover, the device might also feature a T9 physical keyboard.
