Samsung launches Gear S2 smartwatches along with new Gear VR in India, here are the pricing details

Looks like Samsung is on a launch spree in India. The Korean giant unveiled the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches, along with a new Gear VR powered by Oculus at an event in India, today. The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch will be available in Dark Grey color with Silver case and a sporty band, while the Gear S2 Classic will be up for sale in Black case with a leather band, both the devices are priced at Rs. 24,300 and Rs. 25,800, respectively. On the other hand, the Gear VR powered by Oculus will be available in Frost White color for a price of Rs. 8,200.Samsung Gear S2 Platinum Rose Gold

The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic feature a 1.2-inch Circular Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360×360 pixels, and rotating bezel. Both the devices run Tizen based wearable platform. Interestingly, both the smartwatches are equipped with Home and Back buttons for a handy notifications and applications access. The Gear S2 is crafted in a silicone band, which offers modern outlook, while the Gear S2 Classic comes in Black finish paired with a leather band that gives it a premium look. Both the smartwatches are powered by a 1GHz dual-core Exynos 3250 chipset clubbed with 512MB of RAM, and IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. In terms of connectivity, both of the devices support Bluetooth 4.1 LE and NFC (for easy mobile payments). Backing these smartwatches is a 250mAh Li-ion battery with wireless charging.




Both the devices will be up for purchase through Samsung retail channels and on Flipkart as its exclusive online partner. Users will be offered a variety of band options to customize the smartwatches as per their choice. Moreover, Samsung also revealed that the latest 18K Rose Gold and Titanium variants, which were showcased at the CES 2016, will also go on sale by the end of February.Samsung Gear VRNow, coming on to the new Gear VR Powered by Oculus, which is compatible with Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S6 edge via microUSB. Samsung touts that this edition of the Gear VR is around 22% lighter than its predecessor Gear VR Innovator Edition. It comes with an enhanced touchpad that offers smooth control to easier control to access 360-degree videos, movies, gaming, and other virtual reality content available for the Gear VR.

The Gear VR 2016 features a new foam cushioning, which makes it much more pleasant to wear. Just like its smartwatches, this one too will be up for sale via Samsung’s retail channels and Flipkart as its exclusive online partner.
