“Customers who are upgrading to 4G-Ready SIMs will be rewarded with free 1GB 4G internet, at the time of launch. All they need to do is send a short SMS “GO4G” to 199,” the company said in a statement.

For availing 4G services, a customer will need to have a 4G-enabled handset and a new 4G-Ready SIM card. The company is also making arrangements of home delivery of 4G-ready SIMs for its high-value customers in Delhi and NCR. A formal communication is being sent out to all these customers with details of the initiative.

“Customers can walk in to any nearby Vodafone store and get their 4G-ready SIM with a hassle -free exchange process- free of cost,” the statement said.

Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head–Delhi & NCR, Vodafone India, said, “Before we step into the next generation of telecommunications, we want to make the transition to 4G to be smooth and seamless for our 10 million customers in Delhi & NCR. We want them to be 4G-ready so that they can start experiencing the benefits of high speed mobile internet services as soon as they are launched commercially.

Hence, this facility to upgrade to 4G-ready SIMs in advance. We are excited and fully geared up to launch our 4G services on the superior 1800 MHz band in Delhi & NCR very soon.”

Vodafone has successfully tested its 4G services on its network infrastructure to support the expected volumes and speed requirements of its customers. The company has already rolled out 4G services in Kerala and Karnataka and the announcement of 4G launch will follow soon in other states. The company is investing about Rs 13,000 crores for upgrading and modernizing its network.

Went to 2 different store for 4G SIM card and finally Vodafone issued 4G sim yesterday but after 24 hours of struggle number was not activated. On top of this they were totally clueless about procedures. After many calls to customer care, they finally told that 4G sim couldn’t be activated and I have to visit Vodafone store for new 3G sim!!!

So back on old 3G sim 🙁

Went to two stores, one at south extension and another one at Green park. Executives told that 4G sim is available for postpaid customers only and only way to get 4G sim is to migrate from prepaid to post-paid.

send “GO4G” to 199 if u haven’t done it already and show them the reply u get. Then they will have no excuse left for not giving prepaid customers 4G sims. I mean why would they give 1 gb free data to prepaid customers if they don’t have 4G sims available for them.

they are trying to force customers to migrate to postpaid. they are really cruel.

@Kiran: Lolz if only the same thing was done by BSNL then T.T would had now posted an Article with Title in Bold as “Sry State Affairs bla bla articles” I still don’t know why T.T supports Avoid grp heavily and hide the truth of such unethical practises following by Avoid Looting group but wen it comes to Bsnl if they incase T.T finds a simple wrong thing they will straight away publish bla bla articles against BSNL,like before T.T won’t dare to answer my above asked Qns or who knows they might even won’t post this cmnt!

Would Vodafone 4G services scheduled to launch in Delhi be compatible with genuine Apple reseller purchased iPhone 5/5S, 6/6+? There are certain iPhone 5S models as well as 6 and 6 + were incompatible with Airtel 4G services.

you wont face any problem if your iphone 6 model no. is A1586 … it will work on almost all the frequencies of 3g and 4g … exceptions are thr like verizon and china mobile I guess

Same offer in Kolkata also. Customer need 4G sim & 4G handset. But, I think sms keyword might be “VODA4G” instead of “GO4G”. bcz, I have also send VODA4G to 199 to avail Free 1GB 4G data.
