Samsung launches Galaxy A7, A5 and A3 (2016) smartphones with glass and metal design

Samsung has announced three smartphones in a row, for its A-series line-up of smartphones. The three new devices are named as, the Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3. These new devices will first be launched in China, somewhere in the mid of this month. Samsung has not revealed the pricing of the devices, and also their availability in other regions.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) has the biggest display among the aforementioned devices, with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED full HD display. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is powered by an unspecified 1.6GHz octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. There is 16GB internal storage onboard, which can be further increased up to 128GB via microSD card. It sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and optical image stabilisation (OIS), along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also features Samsung Pay’s magnetic strip card emulation.

The smartphone supports LTE Cat. 6 connectivity along with a variety of other connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, Fingerprint scanner, and NFC. It measures 151.5x74.1x7.3mm (thicker than the previous A7), weighs 172 grams, and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging. Much like Samsung’s other devices such as S6 and Note, this one has also been embodied in metal and glass. The device will also be available in a dual-SIM variant.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)This one comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, which is a bump from its predecessor that featured a 5-inch 720p display. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is powered by an unspecified 1.6GHz octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It is backed by a 2,900 mAh battery with fast charging, measures 144.8x71.0x7.3mm, and weighs 155 grams. Rest all the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) are identical to the Galaxy A7 (2016).

The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) has got a massive upgrade from it preceding version. It features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED unit with 720p resolution, and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core chipset clubbed with 1.5GB of RAM. It is backed by a 2,300mAh battery with fast charging. The device measures 134.5x65.2x7.3mm and weighs 132 grams. Most of its specifications are identical to the Galaxy A7 (2016), except for the lack of few features such as OIS in the camera, and fingerprint scanner.
