Telecom operator Vodafone India has installed eight additional network sites at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in order to improve outdoor and indoor connectivity.
The company has been working with the civic agencies to address network issues and provide better connectivity around critical areas like the hospital, government buildings, and public spaces.
It is also regularly conducting drive tests in Delhi to identify pockets where there are congestion concerns and is working on a war footing to resolve them. Ensuring a quick response and re-dressal to network issues the company has also set up special ‘War room’ which monitors the network situation 24X7.
Installation of sites around the AIIMS complex is one of the many initiatives undertaken by Vodafone to optimize the network further to address the growing mobile communication requirements of subscribers.
The leading medical institute, which is located in New Delhi, receives about 9,000-10,000 patients per day from all across the country and with a minimum of two attendants per patient, the number goes up to 30,000 visitors on a daily basis.
Vodafone has invested more than Rs 350 crore to modernize and upgrade existing voice and data network in Delhi. During the period of April-October 2015, Vodafone has put up over 730 3G/2G sites in Delhi NCR, while the capacity of the existing 550 sites has been augmented.
Today, the company has a total of 12,605 sites in Delhi NCR which includes 6,190 2G sites and 6,415 3G sites. The company has over 98 lakh subscribers in the region.
Vodafone India, in addition to Rs 111,000 crores already invested in the country since entry in 2007, has recently announced an additional investment of Rs 13,000 crores for capacity augmentation and new business initiatives, reiterating its commitment to Digital India and Make in India.
Recently, in a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in London, Vittorio Colao, CEO, Vodafone Group Plcm has reiterated the company’s commitment towards the government projects.
