Panasonic unveils sturdy tablets Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1 in India

Panasonic has unveiled two super sturdy tablets in India, named as the Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1. Both the devices bear the similar rugged outlook and are priced at Rs. 1,19,000 (FZ-E1) and Rs. 1,09,000 (FZ-X1). Panasonic is targeting the business segment of users with these devices.

Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1Although both the smartphones are quite different in terms of specifications, the Toughpad FZ-E1 is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) SoC and runs Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld. Whereas, the Toughpad FZ-X1 is powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro (APQ8064T) processor and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Both the devices feature 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.




Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1In terms of connectivity, the FZ-E1 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G LTE multi carrier mobile broadband, which enables users for pervasive connectivity. The FZ-X1 offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and optional 4G LTE multi carrier mobile broadband. Both the devices offer 6,200 mAh hot-swap battery (dual battery pack) with up to 14 hours of talk time.

Both the devices sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash along with a 1.3-megapixel front camera. The Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1 have IP65/IP68 certification, which means that they are Water and Dust proof and are also equipped with optional 1D/2D bar-code reader.

All being said, it would be interesting to see if Panasonic proves to be successful in terms of wooing the business segment. The price point plays a vital role, and in this case, shedding more than a lac for tablet may not convince many Indian users.
