CES 2015: Sony announces Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Xperia Z3 by February

We already knew that Sony would provide the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Xperia Z series of smartphones, but the company wasn't able to provide an exact time frame for it to happen. Well, during its keynote at the ongoing CES 2015, Sony has announced that it will push out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Xperia Z3 by February 2015.

It still isn't clear when would the Japanese consumer electronics giant would provide the Android 5.0 update to other devices under the Xperia Z3 series, such as the Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. It might mean that the owners of the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1, and Xperia Z series of device would have to wait much longer than expected.

Other brands including Samsung and LG have already started rolling out Android Lollipop updates to their flagship smartphones, which shows that Sony is slower than other big-name Android smartphone brands in providing the latest Android updates to its devices.
