Asus PadFone Mini launched in India at Rs. 15,999

After giving its glimpse at the CES earlier this year, Asus today launched the PadFone Mini (PF400CG) in India. It is a hybrid device which includes a smartphone and a tablet. The device is priced at Rs 15,999 and is already listed on Flipkart in two colours; black and white.

The PadFone Mini includes a 4-inch smartphone with a resolution of 800×480 pixels, which can be docked into a 7-inch tablet docking station with a display resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The PadFone Mini is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor, coupled with a PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card.
The Asus PadFone Mini sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a 2-megapixel front camera.  It is backed by a 1,170mAh battery and a 2,100mAh battery in the tablet cum dock. In terms of connectivity, it includes dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat.
At the launch, Peter Chang, Regional Head – South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group – ASUS India, said, “Today’s introduction of PadFone Mini marks further extension of the PadFone series which expands our users’ world where they will enjoy, achieve and save categorically, It is an alluring proof to substantiate our prime focus on the bringing incredible. We are assertive that PadFone Mini will touch customers’ heart and take us a step ahead to deliver what our brand promises.

The device might be useful to those who want a smartphone and a tablet but don't want to invest and maintain two separate devices. Also, users don't even need to keep the same data or install the same apps in both devices.
