After officially announcing the Android One program with three new budget smartphones in India, Google has released the Android 4.4.4 KitKat kernel source code for Android One devices.
Bill Yi, in the Android Building Google Group, has stated that "the kernel source can be found on the android-msm-sprout-3.4-kitkat-mr2 branch in the kernel/msm project. It's also tagged with 'android-4.4.4_r3'."
All the Android developers, tinkerers and open source fans can now download the source code and start playing with it. With this move, we might see quite a few custom ROMs for Android One devices.
