Xiaomi Redmi 7A is Now Official With Snapdragon 439 SoC, 4000mAh Battery and Dual 4G

Xiaomi Redmi 7A is now official and it might come to the Indian market next month. With the Redmi 7A, Xiaomi is upping the ante as the phone offers powerful specifications for the asking price. For the first time, Xiaomi has used a Snapdragon 430 series chipset on a low-end smartphone. The Redmi 6A comes with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC clubbed with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Notably, the phone also ships with a beefy 4000mAh battery which is also a first on a Redmi A series phone. Other key features of the Redmi 7A include HD+ display, Android 9 Pie software and Dual 4G support. The Redmi 7A succeeds the Redmi 6A handset both in China and the Indian market.




Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Specifications and Features

The display on the Redmi 7A remains unchanged compared to the Redmi 6A as it's the same 5.45-inch HD+ panel with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. Underneath, Xiaomi has added the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC which we earlier saw on the Nokia 4.2 launched in India for Rs 10,990. The phone comes in two versions with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and the 3GB RAM variant comes paired with 32GB of internal storage. There's a dedicated microSD card slot with storage expansion up to 256GB.

The Redmi 7A sports a 13MP rear-facing camera which has support for PDAF, LED flash and AI scene detection camera feature. Frontal, there's a 5MP shooter with AI Face Unlock functionality and AI Beautify camera app feature. The handset MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. With the Redmi 7A, Xiaomi has added a new app to MIUI 10, which is known as 'Family Guardian.' This app allows users to set restrictions to their children such as how many websites they can visit, limit the usage of phone and SOS Emergency.

Connectivity options on the Redmi 7A include 4G VoLTE, Dual 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a Micro USB port. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and it comes in two colour options- Black, Blue. Xiaomi might launch other colour variants in the future.

Lastly, there's a beefy 4000mAh battery under-the-hood that supports 10W charging.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Pricing and Availability

Having said that, Xiaomi just revealed the complete spec-sheet of the Redmi 7A and the pricing of the handset would be announced alongside the Redmi K20 flagship smartphone on May 28. Aforesaid, the Redmi 7A comes with two variants- 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB. It'll be interesting to see when Xiaomi launches the Redmi 7A in India.

To recall, Xiaomi already teased the launch of Redmi K20 in India, but the launch date hasn't been revealed by the company still. With the Redmi 6A reaching its one-year cycle in India, Xiaomi might launch the Redmi 7A alongside the Redmi K20 in India sometime next month. And with these specifications, it will be interesting to see the price of the Redmi 7A in India.

If Xiaomi keeps the pricing similar to the Redmi 6A at Rs 5,999, then the Realme C2 available at Rs 5,999 will face tough competition.
