Vodafone, the leading operator in India, has now launched a referral program for their customers and their families. Under the offer, Vodafone is offering free unlimited calls for one year between the user’s Vodafone number to his referred contact who switched to Vodafone through MNP.

The person who avails MNP can choose between postpaid and prepaid. However, if they choose postpaid billing, they could win attractive handsets from Samsung as a bonus offer. When contacted regarding the offer, Vodafone executives from their dedicated customer care shared that they aren't aware of such scheme. However, when I visited two Vodafone Stores located at Kolkata, they confirmed that the scheme was launched a few days ago, and it is valid right now.

Vodafone customers who are on the network for more than 90 days could text the code ‘ MGM(space)(Mobile number of friend or family member who are on another network)' to toll free helpline number 199. Both the parties will receive information about their successful registration. The person who are on other network, have to switch to Vodafone's network within 25 days to avail the Unlimited Free Calling offer between the two numbers.

Process:
Send the code ‘MGM ' to toll-free helpline number 199.
Both the people's will receive a SMS containing Success message attemt .
Referred person should port to Vodafone’s network within 25 days to avail the offer.
This referral program is targeted to bag more users by offering free unlimited calls to referred family or friends number. This move by the British telecom giant's Indian unit would also help subscriber's bound to the network. Voice revenues are drowning, and on-net calls are free to telcos, so Vodafone can offer without spending a penny.

Customers who avail the scheme will remain on their network as they will get free calls, which will make them loyal to the network. However, we will have to wait for few more months to watch how these incumbent players like Vodafone or Airtel strategise to fight against Reliance Jio.

Note: Contact customer care or Vodafone Store for more information about the scheme as In many circles they might not offer the scheme.
