Vodafone revises 3G/4G data packs in Kerala, reduces data benefits

Vodafone India, has revised its 3G/4G prepaid data packs by reducing the available benefit in the Kerala circle. Vodafone had launched the 3G/4G service on its network in Kerala last month, and upgraded all 3G packs to offer 4G speeds.

The data benefit available for Rs. 29 data pack has been reduced to 90MB from existing 120MB. Similarly, Rs. 49 data pack has been revised to offer 150MB instead of 200MB earlier. The Rs. 104 data pack benefit has been reduced to 250MB from earlier 300MB and Rs. 149 data pack now offers 375MB of data instead of 500MB.

The latest move from Vodafone is quite unexpected as it is battling with Airtel and Idea in the Kerala circle with its 4G services. The competition in the circle went crazy after the launch of 4G service by all three operators. Both, Idea and Airtel, are already offering double data on all 4G recharges above 1GB. However, Vodafone has not announced any special offer for its 4G service.

Thanks to Sayed Ejaz for the tip!

The shameless aircel has also decreased the 3G prepaid benefits in Tamilnadu :

Rs.14 validity reduced, all reduced data with more validity has been cancelled. Rs.103 data pack with 500 MB 28 days validity is reduced to 14 days. Bloddie shit.

Better use wired broadband.

A business tactic to make their 1GB and above packs more attractive and choosing ones!!! Vodafone want to discourage customers choosing packs less than 1GB,as I think people who chooses less than 1GB mainly use it for instant messaging purposes or facebook browsing,a practise that brings unfavourable conditions to Vodafone. If BSNL follow this kind of tactics, definitely they will get some higher revenue from data segment and it will helps in ensuring an improved quality of servicesfor primary customers like me(I can now feel the congestion in BSNL Kerala network 🙁 ).

I think Govt should make a law against the rise tariffs of Mobile internet. They are not improving their services rather they increasing cost of 3G/4G on every week. MNP is not the solution for this as all operators are like same and increasing their tariffs day by day. Only Govt telecom service providers (BSNL & MTNL) remains cheap but they act as dead as compared to Private operators. We peoples can’t do anything except request to Govt to make law and imply heavy penalty on these operators.

Come and see in North man. MTNL and BSNL is taking last breath… I bet if you can call from Your BSNL mobile in UP(E) circle to anyone from 5PM to 10PM. BSNL may be excellent in South India but in North MTNL and BSNL is dad networks.

If I come to North, I will take TN BSNL SIM with me and try.

Aircel is worst in karnataka. Calls do not go through in the 1st attempt, data does not work (gets connected but no browsing).

What about Aircel and Idea?. Do they have own 3G network at Delhi?.

Don’t worry. BSNL is not good in Kerala too. Last week, I went to Kottayam. My two BSNL mobiles were not working in any part of Kottayam district. Maybe, the network was down only on that day but it is quite unforgivable. I was able to communicate just because I had taken my MTS mobile with me. In rural areas of Kerala BSNL purposefully makes its network the worst while other private mobile service providers give excellent service. Also, BSNL is the only network which does not work inside the famous Lulu Mall.

Kottayam SSA is the best SSA I have found out of 12 SSA of BSNL Kerala.I think areas under Kottayam SSA have more than 75% 3G coverage which is quite higher than that of other SSA ‘s.Idukki district under Ernakulam SSA is least covered with 3G, with worst Telecom service quality.I think problem you faced was only a temporary one. @Rinu

Ernakulam SSA is the worst with the worst employees ever. They are not ashamed at all even after hearing (you know what) from me several times. Higher ups are decent but they have to rely upon lower grades, who are not willing to do anything, to get things done. To sum up, there is not even a single one who can be considered the best provider at present in Kerala. We are all waiting for someone with a commitment to subscribers. Will that happen? Only time will tell.
